Mehveþ Demiren’s ceramic panels

Mehveþ Demiren was born in Istanbul in 1959. She attended the University of Strasbourg II, where she obtained a degree in sociology in 1982. She started to work with ceramics in 1985 and for five years she worked as an apprentice for Turkish ceramics artist Ayfer Karamani. She opened her first solo exhibition in 1989 and established her atelier three years later.

The main influences in her work have been Turkish culture and history.

Demiren's work will be shown at the Christie Couderc Gallery in Paris as one of the activities for the 700th anniversary celebration of the Ottoman Empire.
