Ottoman Splendor Fascinates Paris Paris hosts the 700 years anniversary celebrations of the Ottoman Empire. Among the celebration activities there is the exhibition of ceramic artist Mehveþ Demiren and Istanbul photographs by SIPA Press.
The 700 years anniversary celebrations of the Ottoman Empire continue abroad as well. Under the auspice of Paris Ambassador Sönmez Köksal and his wife Filiz Akýn, the first exhibition has been inaugurated at the Bagatelle Park and will be on display until June 28. This exhibition presents Ottoman flower motifs, ceramics, kilims, broidery, miniatures, paintings and other objects of art.
Houses by Demiren
For emphasizing the contemporary aspect of the anniversary celebrations, Mehveþ Demiren inaugurated a ceramic exhibition at Paris’s prestigious “Gallery Christie Couderc”. At this gallery, 38 pieces of ceramic objects will be on display until April 30. They are grouped under the headings “Series of Houses”, “Seljukian Walls”, “Series of Love Puzzles” and “Ceramic Mirrors”. Demiren further presents a table with ceramic application on a 19th century wooden door from Denizli and a screen with ceramic application on 19th century wardrobe doors from Kayseri. Among the anniversary celebrations in Paris there is an exhibition on Istanbul photographs prepared by SIPA Press, which will be open until August 29; while ‘Les Merveilles de la Cour Ottomane: Topkapý a Versailles’ will offer insights on the daily lives of the Ottomans in Versailles Palace on May 6 – August 15.
